Less than a week removed from ONE Championship’s year-ending card in Bangkok, Thailand, promotion chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong already has big plans for 2018.
Aside from announcing another champion-versus-champion superfight between reigning ONE bantamweight world champion Bibiano Fernandes and two-division world champion Martin Nguyen, Sityodtong also announced that a new champion will be crowned to kick off the new year.
Joining ONE Championship’s talented cast of title holders will be a women’s strawweight world champion, and fighting for that distinction will be Singapore’s Tiffany Teo and China’s Xiong Jing Nan.
‘No Chill’ Teo is unbeaten in seven professional bouts, three of which coming via submission. The Singaporean striker made her ONE debut back in 2016 and quickly racked up four straight wins, earning herself a shot at ONE’s newest world championship.
China’s Xiong made an immediate impact in her promotional debut a ONE: Warriors of the World in Bangkok, knocking out Team Lakay strawweight contender April Osenio in the first round. Prior to her ONE debut however, ‘The Panda’ already had an impressive MMA record with nine wins and just one loss.
