Zamboanga's Jomary Torres improves to 3-0 in ONE Championship with a vicious KO win over Team Lakay's April Osenio
Zamboanga’s Jomary Torres remained unbeaten in her ONE Championship career after making quick work of Team Lakay’s April Osenio with a vicious slam knockout at ONE: Global Superheroes, Friday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena.
After a brief striking exchange to open the match, Torres shot in for a takedown, but was met with a guillotine choke attempt from Osenio.
The Catalan Fighting Systems Philippines product managed to escape Osenio’s guillotine attempt, postured up, and proceeded to drop some strikes from the top.
Osenio again caught Torres with a submission attempt, this time with a deep armbar.
Torres countered with a slam that separated Osenio from her senses, and finished the job off with some vicious ground and pound before the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
The official stoppage came in at just 40 seconds into the first round, the fastest win in a women's match in ONE Championship history.
"Salamat kay God na binigay niya sa akin yung panalo na ito pati sa coaches ko na nagtiwala sa akin," Torres said in the post-fight interview, her first win in the Philippines since joining ONE Championship.
Torres improves to 3-0 in her ONE Championship career, while Osenio absorbs her third straight loss.
