Bantamweight contenders Kevin Belingon and Andrew Leone face off at the ONE: Heroes of Honor Press Conference, Tuesday afternoon at the City of Dreams Grand Ballroom.
ONE Championship returns to the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on Friday, April 20th, and you can expect a ton of fireworks.
The main event will feature a bantamweight bout between two title contenders in Team Lakay's Kevin "The Silencer" Belingon and American former title contender Andrew Leone in a match with serious title implications.
The bantamweight main event, as announced by ONE Championship CEO and Chairman Chatri Sityodtong during the pre-fight press conference, will be a title eliminator, with the winner being next in line to challenge reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes.
"Definitely, the winner's gonna get a title shot against Bibiano Fernandes down the road,"
Aside from what's sure to be an exciting main event between two top contenders, Friday's ONE card will also be a historic one as it marks the launch of the highly anticipated ONE Super Series, featuring some of the world's best Muay Thai and Kickboxing practicioners.
"It’s an open invitation to the greatest strikers in the world,” said Sityodtong. “Fans will witness the absolute elite in striking martial arts, as they go head-to-head on the biggest and most prestigious global stage of competition.”
Headlining the ONE Super Series in Manila will be 70 KG kickboxing bout between Armenian-Italian kickboxing legend Giorgio "The Doctor" Petrosyan and Thailand's "Smokin'" Jo Nattawut.
In line with the debut of the ONE Super Series, ONE Championship will also introduce the five-rope ring, instead of the circular cage that we've been accustomed to.
"ONE Super Series is dedicating a ring where you will see all the beautiful striking arts of the world, but you'll also see mixed martial arts in there as well," said Sityodtong. "The beauty of this is, as a martial artist, you wanna test yourself in a cage, you can test yourself in a ring, in any environment, and if you're truly a world champion, it doesn't matter where the fight's gonna be, you should be able to win."
Also on the card, Team Lakay's Honorio "The Rock" Banario makes his long awaited return to the ONE cage when he takes on Australian veteran Adrian "The Hunter" Pang, and former ONE Featherweight Champion Marat Gafurov takes on American Emilio Urrutia.
Also from Team Lakay, women's atomweight contender Gina "Conviction" Iniong meets former title challenger Jenny Huang, and in another highly-anticipated ONE Super Series bout, Thailand's Nong-O Gaiyanghadao meets France's Fabio Pinca.
ONE Championship: Heroes of Honor happens on Friday, April 20th at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
