Belingon out to secure top contender spot in Manila
Kevin Belingon and Andrew Leone face off ahead of their bantamweight main event at ONE: Heroes of Honor at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila

Team Lakay star Kevin ‘The Silencer’ Belingon will look to further cement his status as the top contender in ONE Championship’s bantamweight division when he takes on American former title contender Andrew Leone in the main event of ONE: Heroes of Honor this Friday, April 20th at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Currently riding a four-fight winning streak, Belingon is considered by many, including ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong as the number one contender to reigning champion Bibiano Fernandes’ crown. The Pinoy knockout artist however, isn’t content on waiting around, and on Friday’ he’ll be back in the cage once again against a tough test in Leone.

Coming off a title challenge loss to Fernades back in August, Leone gets the opportunity to jump right back in the title picture, but it won’t come easy, especially against a devastating striker the caliber of Belingon.

Sityodtong announced that the winner of this bout would get the next shot at the ONE Bantamweight World Title, giving both fighters even more motivation to get the impressive W.

Also on the card, Team Lakay lightweight knockout artist Honorio ‘The Rock’ Banario makes his return when he takes on Australian veteran Adrian ‘The Hunter’ Pang.

Banario is also riding a four-fight winning streak of his own, and is looking to take out a tough contender like Pang to solidify his spot in the top tier of ONE’s stacked lightweight division.

Also from Team Lakay, women’s atomweight contender Gina ‘Conviction’ Iniong will try to bounce back and return to her winning ways when she takes on former title contender Jenny Huang of Taiwan.

Plus, former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat ‘Cobra’ Gafurov makes his return against talented American Emilio Urrutia.

Aside from all the exciting mixed-martial arts action, ONE Championship’s return to Manila will be a historic one, as it marks the debut of the highly-anticipated ONE Super Series, which features some of the best strikers from all over the world.

Headlining the ONE Super Series in Manila is a 70-kilogram kickboxing bout between two-time K-1 World MAX champion Giorgio ‘The Doctor’ Petrosyan and Lion Fight champion “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut.

The 32-year old Armenian-Italian Petrosyan holds an 85-2-2-1NC professional kickboxing record with 38 wins coming via knockout and he’s currently riding a ten-fight winning streak.

On the opposite end, Thailand’s Nattawut has a 60-11-2 professional record and is riding a four-fight winning streak of his own.

In line with the debut of the ONE Super Series, ONE Championship will also introduce, for the first time, a new battleground: the five-rope ring.
