Team Lakay’s Kevin Belingon battered and bloodied American Andrew Leone en route to a second round TKO win, Friday evening in their bantamweight main event at ONE Championship: Heroes of Honor, Friday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Belingon overwhelmed Leone early in the bout, unloading a flurry of strikes that had the American stunned and looking for a takedown.
Leone shot in and ended up getting stuffed by Belingon, who wound up in top position, raining down a barrage of elbows and fists, and a knee that ultimately opened up a cut on Leone’s left eye.
The ringside officials halted the bout momentarily to check on Leone’s cut, but the American was ultimately cleared to fight on.
In the second round, Belingon landed a turning side kick straight to Leone’s gut that sent the American crashing across the ring.
Belingon pounced and rained down a storm of ground and pound until the referee ultimately called a stop to the bout.
The stoppage time came in at a minute and 27 seconds into the second round, with Belingon taking the dominant TKO win.
The Baguio native scores his fifth straight victory to earn another shot at the ONE Bantamweight World Championship, currently held by Bibiano Fernandes.
