Team Lakay women's atomweight contender Gina 'Conviction' Iniong turned in a dominant performance in front of a home-country crowd as she defeated former title contender Jenny "Lady Gogo" Huang via Unanimous Decision at ONE Championship: Heroes of Honor, Friday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Iniong imposed her superior striking in the first round, lighting Huang up with a barrage of punches and kicks, forcing the Taiwanese grappler to clinch.
Iniong outmuscled Huang out of the clinch and continued to land the better strikes to end the round.
After getting repeatedly stuffed in the first round, Huang finally managed a takedown in the second round, but Iniong immediately sprang back up and eventually managed to put her opponent on her back.
From the bottom, Huang attempted to catch Iniong with the very same submission that she defeated Iniong's teammate April Osenio with, a gogoplata, but the bigger Iniong managed to power out and threaten with an armbar of her own.
Iniong ended round two on top, stuffing another Huang takedown.
In the final frame, Iniong took Huang down and kept control for the rest of the round to seal the victory.
After three rounds, Iniong earned the unanimous decision nod from all three judges to get back on the winning track.
Iniong improves to 7-3 in her professional career as she works her way back to the top tier of the women's atomweight division.
