CHAMPION VERSUS CHAMPION: Adriano Moraes and Geje Eustaquio battle for the right to be called undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion
Macau once again plays host to another night of exciting mixed martial arts action, as ONE Championship brings their five-rope ring to the Studio City Events Center for ONE: Pinnacle of Power.
Headlining the card will be a highly-anticipated title unification rematch between our very own ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion Geje ‘Gravity’ Eustaquio of Team Lakay taking on reigning ONE Championship Flyweight World Champion Adriano ‘Mikinho’ Moraes of Brazil for the right to be called the undisputed king of the ONE Championship flyweight division.
Nearly four years removed since their first meeting back in 2014, which saw Moraes score a second-round submission win, Eustaquio now has payback on his mind.
This time around, the Baguio native says that he’s looking to control the tempo of the fight.
“I’ll try to become smarter this time, and as much as possible, push the pace of the fight.” said Eustaquio.
After a brief stint at bantamweight, Eustaquio re-introduced himself as a force in the flyweight division, avenging his loss to Anatpong Bunrad and then defeating former champion Kairat Akhmetov to capture interim gold.
Meanwhile, Moraes has kept himself on the top of the division, losing only once in his last five fights.
On Saturday night, these two flyweight forces will collide once more to see who the top dog in the division is.
“He’s also improving as an athlete, nag-dedevelop siya sa ground, sa wrestling, and sa striking, but same as I. Let us see, and as I said a while back, ito yung mag-iidentify which of us is improving faster.” Eustaquio added.
Also on the card, Team Lakay featherweight contender Edward ‘The Ferocious’ Kelly looks to put himself in the hunt for a world title when he takes on former ONE Featherweight World Champion Narantungalag Jadambaa of Mongolia.
Kelly is coming off a scintillating 21-second knockout and now looks to score arguably the biggest win of his career in ONE Championship.
Former champion Jadambaa on the other hand, is off a near two year hiatus, having last fought back in November of 2016, a loss to then champion Marat Gafurov.
Kelly knows that while he does have the chops to deliver another highlight reel KO, he might need to resort to grappling against the durable Jadambaa.
“Ang nasa isip ko sa laban namin, ang alam ko i-ppressure niya ako. Ako naman, mag-stick ako sa gameplan ko which is keep on moving, counter-strike or attacking. Kung magkaroon ng chance for a takedown, mag-takedown ako.”
In a flyweight contest, Team Lakay rising star and former world title contender Danny ‘The King’ Kingad tries to make his way back up in the flyweight ranks as he takes on China’s Ma Hao Bin.
After coming up short in his attempt at the ONE Flyweight Title, Kingad bounced back with a unanimous decision win over Sotir Kichukov. Now, he takes on a talented prospect in Ma, who’s nine of his last ten bouts.
Also, Catalan Fighting Systems product Rodian Menchavez makes his ONE debut against the dangerous Li Kai Wen of China.
