Team Lakay flyweight contender Danny Kingad showcased his superior striking and much improved grappling skills as he grinded out a tough unanimous decision victory over Chinese contender Ma “The Southern Eagle” Hao Bin at ONE: Pinnacle of Power, Saturday evening at the Studio City Events Center in Macau.
Kingad opened the bout with a thunderous body kick that reverberated throughout the stadium. It didn’t take long for Ma to go to his bread and butter, as the Chinese grappler shot in for a takedown and successfully got Kingad on the mat moments after.
Throughout the bout, Kingad dictated the pace in the striking department, punishing Ma with kicks to the leg and kicks to the body.
Ma found some success with his takedowns, but wasn’t able to threaten Kingad from the bottom.
In the final frame, the two flyweight contenders went back and forth, trading submission attempts, with Kingad closing out the bout with a kneebar attempt.
After three rounds, the Baguio City native did enough to earn the unanimous decision nod from all three judges.
Kingad improves to 9-1 in his professional career after picking up his second consecutive win since suffering his lone loss in a flyweight title contest to Adriano Moraes.
The 22-year old is now once again knocking on the door in ONE Championship’s flyweight title picture.
Ma, meanwhile, suffers only his second loss in ten bouts.
