Even if you come from what's regarded as the best mixed martial arts stable in Asia, it's by no means a reason to stop learning.
Case-in-point former ONE Championship Lightweight World Champion Eduard 'Landslide' Folayang.
Considered as the face of Philippine MMA, Folayang is one of the stars of the Benguet-based Team Lakay stable that has recently garnered praise from ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong as what he believes is the best team in Asia today.
In ONE's seven-year history, four members of Team Lakay have held world championships in the promotion, including Folayang, former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio Banario, reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje Eustaquio, and reigning ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon.
By the end of September, Team Lakay could have a third current ONE World Champion, with strawweight star Joshua Pacio challenging Yoshitaka Naito for the ONE Strawweight World Championship.
As for Folayang, the 34-year old Baguio City-native is working his way back to the top of the division, and his quest for continuous development takes him all the way to the other side of the world, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
For the past few weeks, Folayang has been stateside, sharpening his skills at one of the United States' top MMA gyms, the famed Jackson-Winklejohn MMA Academy, led by mentors to the stars, Greg Jackson and Mike Winklejohn.
Jackson-Winklejohn has produced a number of world class MMA fighters and champions including Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, Rashad Evans, Carlos Condit, Holly Holm, and Andre Arlovski just to name a few.
