DJ believes Bibiano can beat his streak of title defenses
"Absolutely, I think Bibiano can beat my record, he lives this very clean and healthy lifestyle, heís very disciplined in training, he hasnít had any major surgeries, he hasnít taken a lot of damage in fights," - Demetrious Johnson on Bibiano Fernandes

Newly-signed ONE Championship flyweight contender Demetrious Johnson firmly believes that his teammate Bibiano Fernandes is capable of surpassing his streak of title defenses.

Johnson, of course, is the former long-time UFC Flyweight World Champion and holds the promotion's record for most consecutive successful title defenses with eleven, surpassing MMA legend Anderson Silva's long-time record of ten.

Fernandes on the other hand, is ONE Championship's current reigning bantamweight world champion and holds the record for most consecutive successful title defenses with eight.

Fernandes is considered as the most dominant champion in ONE history, with a title reign dating back to 2013.

"Bibiano is a huge inspiration to me and whole entire mixed martial arts career," Johnson admitted. "I remember working my nine-to-five job, and I'd always ask my boss 'Hey boss, I gotta run, I gotta go to the bathroom...', I'd go to the bathroom and I'd sit on the toilet and watch [Bibiano's] fight in DREAM where he armbarred Joe Warren."

Aside from being teammates at AMC Pankration, Fernandes is Johnson's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach.

"Absolutely, I think Bibiano can beat my record, he lives this very clean and healthy lifestyle, he’s very disciplined in training, he hasn’t had any major surgeries, he hasn’t taken a lot of damage in fights," Johnson explained.

On Friday, November 9th in Singapore however, Fernandes' streak will be on the line when he faces reigning ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon in the title unification-main event of ONE: Heart of the Lion at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Belingon, for his part, would like to be the one to end that storied Fernandes streak.

"Of course, I want to stop that winning streak of Bibiano, and I'm confident that I can do that," the Team Lakay star responded.

ONE Championship: Heart of the Lion will air LIVE on Friday, November 9th at 8:30 PM on ABS-CBN S+A channel 23!
