Singaporean mixed martial artist Amir Khan has an opportunity of a lifetime at ONE: Conquest of Champions this coming November 23rd in Manila.

The 24-year old Evolve MMA product will be in the biggest fight of his career as he meets Filipino martial arts hero and former lightweight king Eduard “Landslide” Folayang for the vacant ONE Lightweight World Championship.

Aside taking on the biggest challenge of his young career, Khan has the opportunity to make history as Singapore’s first homegrown MMA world champion, something that he says would be a testament to all the work that he’s put in over the years.

“Winning the title would make me the first homegrown Singaporean to win a world championship, and it will be a reflection of all the hard work I've been putting in over the past decade,” he expressed. “Being a World Champion is a big deal and I hope for it to allow martial arts to gain more recognition in Singapore.”

More than just the fame and the prestige, Khan hopes that a world title win for himself becomes an inspiration to other aspiring Singaporean martial artists who are looking to make a name for themselves in the industry.

“Winning the world title would give young athletes more confidence as it proves that a feat like this is within reach and definitely attainable with hard work and commitment.”

“I would like to show them that it is possible to have a successful career as an athlete in Singapore and inspire future young martial artists to work towards similar goals,” he added.

Before thinking about the effects of becoming a world champion however, Khan will first need to focus on the task at hand, it that’s getting through a hungry former champion in Folayang, who’s out to regain the title that he lost just a year ago.

The magnitude of the upcoming fight isn’t lost on Khan, who maintains that it’s that sort of pressure that’s keeping him more motivated than ever.

“Knowing this fact just motivates me even more to train my hardest and ensure I am at my peak. It's the opportunity of a lifetime for me and I intend to come out with a victory.”

Coming off a big win over Folayang’s Team Lakay teammate Honorio Banario, Khan is riding a wave of momentum and confidence that he feels will be a major key to victory come fight night.

“I'm 110% confident in getting the win against Folayang. He should expect the best version of me in that cage,” he concluded.

Amir Khan faces Eduard Folayang for the vacant ONE Lightweight World Championship at ONE: CONQUEST OF CHAMPIONS on Friday, November 23rd. Catch it LIVE on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23!
