ONE: Danny Kingad more motivated to win in Manila
With a spot in the flyweight Grand Prix at stake, Danny Kingad is even more motivated to emerge victorious in Manila against Tatsumitsu Wada

Team Lakay flyweight standout Danny "The King" Kingad will be gunning for his fourth consecutive win when he steps into the cage against Japan's Tatsumitsu "The Sweeper" Wada at ONE: Hero's Ascent this Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.

Aside from a fourth win, something much bigger hangs in the balance for Kingad, as the winner of this match gains entry into the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix, as announced by ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong during the pre-event presser, Tuesday.

With that revelation, "The King" finds himself even more motivated to come out victorious in Manila.

"Talagang pinrepare ko ito kasi merong Grand Prix, lalong lalo na may champion doon," Kingad said, referring to newly-signed star Demetrious Johnson, who was a long-time UFC Flyweight World Champion and pound-for-pound great before jumping over to ONE Championship. "Gusto kong makalaro siya first pero ginawa nilang Grand Prix."

"Ready na ready ako sa Grand Prix," the 22-year old added.

More than making it into the highly-anticipated flyweight tourney, Kingad is also looking to get a win back for his Team Lakay teammate and training buddy Joshua "The Passion" Pacio, who dropped the ONE Strawweight World Championship just last Saturday after losing to Japan's Yosuke Saruta via split decision in Jakarta.

With Kingad the first to fight on Friday's card, he has the chance to be the first member of Team Lakay to earn a win in 2019.

"Medyo parang gusto kong bawian yung nangyari kay Joshua at Edward [Kelly], kasi yung feeling ko na-excite ako, excited ako bumawi para sa kanila," he expressed.

More than anything however, Kingad says priority number one is to get the win come fight night.

"Para sa akin, kung ano man mangyari, basta ang importante manalo tayo," he concluded.
