Joshua Pacio gets his world title rematch at ONE: Roots of Honor in Manila on April 12th

Filipino former ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua "The Passion" Pacio will be getting his world title rematch against Yosuke "Tobizaru" Saruta of Japan in home soil.

ONE Championship announced Thursday morning that the Team Lakay strawweight star will be challenging the man that beat him for the title at ONE: Roots of Honor on Friday, April 12th at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Pacio and Saruta first met at ONE: Eternal Glory in Jakarta, Indonesia back in January, which saw Pacio lose via a close Split Decision.

Just days after the match, ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong expressed his disapproval for the decision, saying that he felt that Pacio did more to deserve the victory and revealed that he would be getting an immediate rematch.

The 23-year old Pacio, who bested former two-time champion Yoshitaka Naito back in 2018, now looks to become a two-time champion himself and reclaim his spot at the top of the strawweight division.

Saruta, who has been impressive in his first two appearances with ONE against former champion Alex Silva and Pacio, will try to once again reign over the Filipino star and prove that he is a deserving world champion.

Another massive world title bout will be on deck in Manila, as reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin "The Situ-Asian" Nguyen returns to defend his title against Mongolian top contender and former featherweight titleholder Narantungalag "Tungaa" Jadambaa

Nguyen, a former two-division world champion, is coming off a bantamweight title eliminator loss to current ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon back in July and has since re-dedicated himself to the featherweight division.

Former champion Jadambaa is coming off back-to-back wins against Edward Kelly and Kazuki Tokudome will try to become a two-time champion as well.
