Team Lakay flyweight star Danny “The King” Kingad will be getting a new assignment when he steps into the cage at ONE: A New Era in Tokyo, Japan on March 31st.
Originally slated to face former bantamweight title contender Andrew Leone in the opening round of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix, Kingad will now be facing Japanese veteran and Pancrase Flyweight Champion Senzo Ikeda in the quarterfinal round of the flyweight tourney.
A veteran of the Japan-based promotion Pancrase - which recently signed a partnership with ONE - Ikeda is a 19-fight veteran who owns a 12-6-1 professional record and comes into ONE riding a four-fight winning streak including a Pancrase title win and defense.
Kingad, meanwhile, is a former flyweight title challenger in his own right, and earned his spot in the flyweight tournament after defeating Tatsumitsu Wada back in January.
The winner of the Kingad-Ikeda matchup will be facing the winner of the Reece McLaren-Kairat Akhmetov matchup.
All four quarterfinals matchups in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix will be taking place on March 31st in Tokyo.
