Ramon Gonzales Vows To Display Fiery Form In Homecoming
"I’ve been upgrading my overall game to make sure that I’ll be prepared on whatever challenge I will be facing on the ONE Championship stage."

Ramon "The Bicolano" Gonzales has finally gotten his wish to compete in front of his countrymen after being officially included in ONE Championship's next visit to the Philippines.

The Filipino National Kyokushin Karate Champion is slated to duke it out with Japan's Akihiro "Superjap" Fujisawa at ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR, which takes place the 20,000-capacity Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines on 12 April.

"Me and my team have been training day and night after I won in Thailand. I’m very excited to represent the country once again and show the world how talented Filipinos are," he stated.

"I’ve been upgrading my overall game to make sure that I’ll be prepared on whatever challenge I will be facing on the ONE Championship stage."

Gonzales will look to continue his winning run to three after dropping his first two assignments in the promotion,

But he soon developed a well-rounded game, which was very evident when he defeated Dodi Mardian of Indonesia by way of first-round submission at ONE: KINGDOM OF HEROES in October 2018.

It is an improvement that he wishes to show in front of his countrymen.

"I have always been requesting to be included in a Manila card," Gonzales said. "I'm eager to get back to the ONE Championship stage and continue where I left off."

Also making a return to action at ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR is Team Lakay's Edward "The Ferocious” Kelly, who takes on South Korea’s Sung Jong Lee.

Meanwhile, his older brother, Eric "The Natural" Kelly, is likewise booked at the aforementioned event to battle Tang Kai of China.
