ONE Championship: Brandon Vera officially challenges Aung La N Sang for Light Heavyweight Title

Brandon Vera has challenged Aung La N Sang for the ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship on ONE's return to Tokyo this October.
Two-division world champion Aung La N Sang had himself a night at ONE: A New Era, Sunday at the historic Ryogoku Kokukigan in Tokyo, Japan.
The Myanmar-born star was dominant in his win over Japan's Ken Hasegawa to retain his ONE Middleweight World Championship, finishing off the tough challenger via TKO in the second round.
After the bout however, it was his ONE Light Heavyweight World Champion that became the topic of discussion, with ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon "The Truth" Vera making a formal challenge for the title.
A visibly slimmed-down Vera entered the cage, and in the most polite way possible, challenged Aung La for the title on ONE Championship's next trip to Tokyo, Japan later this year.
"Mr. Aung La, congratulations on your win tonight, you're a man amongst men," said Vera. "I would like to as, if we are both healthy, if we are both in shape, and if we both agree, could you and I meet here in Japan on October, to challenge you for the light heavyweight belt?"
Aung La, in an equally polite fashion, accepted the challenge, and confirmed with ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, who gave the the super-fight the go signal.
"I've always been a big fan of Brandon Vera, and it would be an honor for me to fight Brandon Vera in October," Aung La said.
During thre post-event press conference, Sityodtong spoke more about the upcoming super-fight, which could easily headline ONE's return to Tokyo in October.
"I know these guys have always wanted to battle it out. They’ve talked about it, they’re friends, informally just talking about it," said Sityodtong, who also addresed Vera's manner of challenging Aung La. "Super humble, super respectful of their friendship, but also the mutual respect of world champions, and meeting at light heavyweight, that’s gonna be an unbelievable war for the Tokyo fans come October for our second show in Tokyo, so I think it’s going to be an incredible fight."
