Edward Kelly picks up a big TKO win in Manila
Team Lakay featherweight Edward "The Ferocious" Kelly survived a multitude of submission attempts from South Korean submission specialist Sung Jong Lee to pick up the TKO win in their featherweight bout at ONE: Roots of Honor, Friday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila.
Early on, Sung, a NAGA Grappling Champion, made his intentions clear as he took Kelly down and immediately transitioned to the back.
The Wushu specialist managed to fight off the submission attempt and began punishing Sung fron the top position.
Still, the South Korean was relentless as he began to target Kelly's legs for the rest of the round.
In the second frame, Sung again went for Kelly's leg, and the Pinoy again survived the submission attempt. This time however. Kelly found himself in a more dominant position as he rained down some heavy ground and pound.
Gassed from all the submission attempts, Sung could no longer defend himself, prompting the referee to step in and stop the bout.
The official stoppage came in at the 2:51 mark of the second round.
With the win, Kelly improves to 12-6 as he bounces back from his most recent loss to Christian Lee.
