Team Lakay went for a well deserved break after what has been a grueling week following ONE: ROOTS OF HONOR last April 12th at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
It was a celebration of sorts as Joshua "The Passion" Pacio and Edward "The Ferocious" Kelly defeated their respective opponents that evening.
Pacio reclaimed the ONE Strawweight World Title by way of fourth-round knockout over Yosuke "The Ninja" Saruta as Kelly won by second-round technical knockout against South Korean grappler Sung Jong Lee.
“Our plan was for the team to drop by Bataan in Five Fingers in Mariveles after the fights,” said Kelly who’s now residing in Bataan.
“We went swimming and had team building. It was an outdoor trip,” he added.
While it may look like a celebratory trip, Team Lakay said the trip was planned ahead of time, and the team was headed to Five Fingers regardless of what would have been the results of their bouts that evening.
It all turned out for the better eventually, as Team Lakay not only took a hard-earned vacation, but also took home the highly-coveted ONE Strawweight World title back with them.
Pacio, admittedly still sore from his latest outing, was ecstatic about the team building even though he missed some of the activities he looked forward to.
“I went swimming but I didn’t get to go cliff diving, that would have been fun,” said Pacio. "Now it's back to training."
