Even real-life superheroes need inspiration, too.

At least that’s how Eduard “Landslide” Folayang looks at it.

Folayang, who has been viewed as ONE Championship’s resident superhero with his mix of excellent martial arts skill and perpetual character, is jumping onto The Avengers hype train, with the franchise’s last installment, Endgame, hitting theaters in Manila on Wednesday, 24 April.

Being the most ‘human’ of them all, with no eye-popping superpower, the 35-year-old cited similarities with him and ‘the first avenger.’

“I like Captain America. I see myself in him, being one of the pioneers of mixed martial arts in the Philippines,” Folayang said.

“He does not have many superpowers — he seems normal and he can lose to anyone, but he finds solutions and he makes up for it with determination to help out his team.”

Folayang is touted by his fellow Team Lakay stablemates as a role model and one of the group’s two cornerstones.

More than Captain America's outstanding ability in combat, the Filipino icon sees his leadership as a vital role in the movie — a task he takes seriously in the team.

“He has excellent leadership. Again, he’s not the strongest — he’s not even flying. He only has a [vibranium] shield, but he’s always been a leader,” Folayang said.

“Iron Man is more high tech. Hulk is probably stronger, but Captain America is like a lion — not the strongest, but he’s the king of the jungle because of his ability to lead.”

Like the millions of fans all over the world who are excited for the culmination of the decade-long cinematic experience, Folayang cannot wait for the movie to hit the theaters.

When it finally arrives on the big screen, the Baguio City native will be with the only person who can make him obey and follow orders with just a simple glance.

“I’ll be with my wife to watch it. If I am Captain America, then she is Major America because she has the higher rank,” he said with a laugh.

“Of course, they’ll beat Thanos because they’ll be a team. There is power in unity. It is written.”
