Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje "Gravity" Eustaquio of Team Lakay was impressive in his return to the ONE Championship ring, picking up a unanimous decision win over South Korean Kim Sung Kyu at ONE: Enter the Dragon, Friday evening in Singapore.
Facing a longer and taller opponent in Kim, Eustaquio was patient in his approach as he picked his spots and outstruck the promotional newcomer for the first two rounds of the three-round contest.
Not wanting to come up short in his ONE debut, Kim turned up the aggression in the final round as he used his length and reach advantage to land some good shots and even bust Eustaquio up.
Kim's rally fell short however, as Eustaquio earned the unanimous decision nod on all three of the judges' scorecards.
The 30-year old Eustaquio improves to 12-7 in his professional career, and bounces back from his title loss to rival Adriano Moraes in Manila back in January.
More importantly, the win places Eustaquio as an alternate in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix, allowing him to fill in for any of the semifinalists, should they be unable to compete.
Earlier that night, the other Filipino on the card, Malaysia-based Richard "Notorious" Corminal, wasn't as fortunate, absorbing a first-round submission loss to India's Rahul Raju.
