American rising star Sage Northcutt was on the wrong end of a massive knockout in his ONE Championship debut at ONE: Enter The Dragon, last May 17th in Singapore.
Northcutt's highly-anticipated debut was made quick by a devastating right hook from Brazilian striker and multiple-time kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion Cosmo Alexandre, who ended the bout in just 29 seconds.
Northcutt was one of ONE Championship's marquee signings back in 2018, alongside the likes of fellow former UFC standouts Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez.
Alvarez, of course, was also on the recieving end of a massive TKO win against Russian contender Timofey Nastyukhin at ONE: A New Era in Tokyo, Japan back in March. Johnson, on the same card, was able to weather an early storm and submit Japanese striker Yuya Wakamatsu in the second round.
Following the brutal loss, Northcutt revealed that he had sustained eight fractures in his face because of the knockout, which required a nine-hour surgery.
Fresh out of surgery...I had 8 fractures and a nine hour intense operation. Feeling blessed for the amazing care and all the support from @onechampionship, my family/friends and fans! My Terminator face is not too Shabby.. ????“I’ll be back!” Next post is catheter removal????...stay tuned-JK ????
