Following stacked fight cards in Tokyo and Singapore, Manila will be the latest to host a massive ONE Championship event with some serious star power, as ONE: Dawn of Heroes features a massive lightweight bout between Filipino mixed martial arts hero and former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang of the Philippines and Team Lakay taking on American former UFC and Bellator Lightweight World Champion Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez in an explosive lightweight contest.

Both Folayang and Alvarez are coming off first round losses at ONE: A New Era in Tokyo, Japan back in March, with Folayang dropping the lightweight title to Japanese legend Shinya Aoki in the main event, while Alvarez was overwhelmed in his promotional debut by heavy-handed Russian Timofey Nastyukhin in their ONE Lightweight Grand Prix quarterfinal matchup.

Both looking to bounce back and work their way towards ONE gold, Folayang and Alvarez will surely provide the fireworks in Manila.

Also on the card, former long-time UFC Flyweight World Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson of the United States will make his Manila debut as he takes on Japanese contender Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada in a ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix semifinal bout.

Johnson was dominant in his ONE debut back in Tokyo, submitting Japanese striker Yuya Wakamatsu in the second round, while Wada earned his spot in the semifinals with a unanimous decision win against Gustavo Balart back in Manila. The winner advances into the Flyweight Grand Prix Semifinals and moves one step closer to a shot at the ONE Flyweight World Championship.

Also looking to take a step forward in the ONE Flyweight Grand Prix will be Team Lakay flyweight standout and former title contender Danny “The King” Kingad of the Philippines facing former ONE Flyweight World Champion Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov of Kazakhstan in their ONE Flyweight Grand Prix semifinal pairing.

Kingad took care of business against Senzo Ikeda, while Akhmetov decisioned Reece McLaren in their respective quarterfinal matchups in Japan back in March.

In the remaining ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix semifinal pairing, former ONE Featherweight World Champion Honorio “The Rock” Banario of Team Lakay and the Philippines replaces the injured Lowen Tynanes to face Russia’s Timofey Nastyukhin. The winner will advance to the finals to face Turkish buzzsaw Saygid “Dagi” Guseyn Arslanaliev.

Headlining the card will be a ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship bout between titleholder Jonathan Haggerty of the United Kingdom and challenger Rodtang Jitmuangnon of Thailand.
