Demetrious Johnson defeats Tatsumitsu Wada to advance into the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Finals.
American mixed martial arts legend and former UFC Flyweight World Champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson bucked a slow start to defeat Japanese contender Tatsumitsu "The Sweeper" Wada at ONE: Dawn of Heroes, Friday evening to advance to the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Finals.
Wada was aggressive early, as he was able to take Johnson down and control him on the mat.
It didn't take Johnson too long to adjust however, as he was able to neutralize the Japanese grappler and overpower him on the ground.
After three rounds of action, Johnson earned the Unanimous Decision victory, much to the delight of the Pinoy crowd in attendance.
With the win, Johnson sets up a must-see ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Finals bout against Filipino star Danny Kingad of Team Lakay, who was able to defeat Reece McLaren in their semi-final bout earlier in the evening.
The two flyweight stars will meet at ONE: Century in Tokyo, Japan this coming October.
