With a lot of pundits and critics questioning the ground game, or lack thereof, of Team Lakay athletes as of late, Lito "Thunder Kid" Adiwang promises that he is far from being one dimensional.

Like his brothers, Adiwang was devastating on the feet during his stint in Rich Franklin's ONE Warrior Series (OWS), but the Baguio City standout is confident that he is just as dangerous on the mat as well.

“Not to be arrogant, but I believe in myself. I practice and give time to my jiu jitsu and ground game. I spend a lot of time improving it, so I know that I can hang with anyone on the ground,” Adiwang said.

“It’s all about confidence when the match hits the ground.”

Adiwang is coming off a unanimous decision nod over Anthony "The Antidote" Do at OWS 7 where both mixed martial artists went back and forth on the feet.

His opponent wanted a grappling match in some instances, but Adiwang pacified his attempts with his takedown and submission defense.

Looking back at his performance, Adiwang says he could have allowed the bout to unfold on the canvas, but he chose to look for a highlight reel knockout finish instead.

“I was actually thinking I can take him down and play with him on the ground, but I kept thinking that I have a higher chance of getting that contract with a highlight knockout,” Adiwang shared.

“If you look at it, I was just defending his submissions. I could have battled him down there and traded submission attempts with him.”

It was an impressive performance from Adiwang nonetheless, as it earned him a lucrative six-figure contract in the main roster of ONE Championship.

He also sent out a warning to the strawweight division, stating that he is only getting started.

“I’ll work harder not just to put on better shows but to become a World Champion in ONE,” Adiwang stated.

“I want to be better every time I enter the Circle.”
