Team Lakay flyweight star Danny “The King” Kingad will be fighting for way more than just a tournament championship when he enters the cage against American superstar Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson at ONE: Century on Sunday, October 13th at the historic Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The 23-year old Kingad will be facing Johnson, a former long-time UFC Flyweight World Champion and pound-for-pound great in the finals of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix, and while the young Filipino has challenged for a world title in ONE before, this bout is easily the biggest one of his career.
Kingad defeated Senzo Ikeda and Reece McLaren on his way to the finale, and now has the opportunity to shock the MMA world with a win over one of the best in the world in Johnson.
For Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao, Kingad’s opportunity in the finals is a testament that Filipino fighters have what it takes to compete against the best in the business.
More than just being part of ONE Championship’s biggest show ever, Kingad will be on the co-main event of the morning half of the two-part event, which will be shown live on American primetime television via TNT.
Now, more than ever, more eyes will be on Kingad as he represents the Philippines inside the ONE cage against Johnson.
“Ibig sabihin nun, worldwide, competitive tayo sa MMA, and sana manalo.
Kingad hopes to be able to follow in the footsteps of his teammate Geje Eustaquio, who held the ONE Flyweight World Championship at the end of 2018.
