Eduard Folayang sees 'Dagi' emerging as LW GP champ
“I haven’t faced ‘Dagi’ yet, but if you’d look at it, you’ll see that he has more power,” - Eduard Folayang on Lightweight Grand Prix Finals

Former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard "Landslide" Folayang expects fireworks when Eddie "The Underground King" Alvarez takes on Saygid Guseyn "Dagi" Arslanaliev in the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship Final.

“Dagi” collides with "The Underground King" in the co-main event of ONE: CENTURY PART I on 13 October at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

“This will be an amazing fight,” Folayang said. “I see youth and strength being in ‘Dagi’s’ favor.”

“Experience on the other hand goes to Eddie, but you really can’t count Dagi out. He’s a great kid. Eddie’s in for a long night if he doesn’t come in sharp.”

Fans and experts alike tout Arslanaliev as the dark horse in the prestigious tournament. A formidable wrestler with monstrous power in both hands, the 24-year-old has finished his past three bouts by first-round knockout.

“I haven’t faced ‘Dagi’ yet, but if you’d look at it, you’ll see that he has more power,” Folayang said. “[And] I think him being younger will play a huge factor.”

While the Team Lakay standout heavily favors Arslanaliev to defeat Alvarez, he also sees a potential weakness in the Turkish mixed martial artist stamina.

“Dagi has knockout power and he’s also very good on the ground,” Folayang said. “The question for him is his cardio. Will he last if the match goes the distance?”

With both martial artists known as excellent finishers, “Landslide” thinks the showdown between the two will not go the distance.

“[I see it ending in] either one or two rounds, but for sure this won’t go to the third round.”

“I feel like Eddie will be going to the ground. He also has great wrestling but Dagi has power and he’s excellent on the ground. I don’t think this fight will be going to the third round,” Folayang added.
