Lito Adiwang's road to ONE: Century has been nothing but impressive

On October 13th, ONE Championship heads back to the historic Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan for ONE: Century, the promotion’s 100th event. To mark the milestone in the promotion’s history, ONE will be putting together a two-part fight card that features a handful of their biggest stars as well as a number of exciting prospects.

Among those young prospects is Filipino strawweight Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang, who fights out of the famed Team Lakay stable up in La Trinidad, Benguet.

This is Adiwang’s Road to ONE: Century.

Adiwang appeared on ONE Championship’s radar following an impressive tryout for Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series.

The 25-year old, who trains alongside a number of world champions such as Eduard Folayang, Kevin Belingon, Geje Eustaquio, Joshua Pacio, and Honorio Banario, caught the eye of ONE Championship Vice President Franklin as well as ONE Warrior Series director Jonathan Fong.

Adiwang’s potential earned him a spot on the 3rd edition of ONE Warrior Series, and immediately, he made a splash.

Against American Manuel Huerta, Adiwang needed just under a round to take care of business and win via TKO.

At ONE Warrior Series 4, Adiwang followed his impressive one-rounder by an even quicker stoppage win, this time against Brazilian Alber Correia Da Silva in just 40 seconds.

At ONE Warrior Series 7, with a potential ONE contract hanging in the balance, Adiwang showed that he was more than just a flashy finisher by dominating Anthony Do for three rounds to earn a unanimous decision win.

Because of his display of dominance, toughness and durability, Adiwang earned the ONE contract that he had long clamored for.

Now finally on the big stage, Adiwang makes his debut on the biggest event of the year, and immediately gets a tough welcome bout as he’s set to take on Japan’s Senzo Ikeda in the undercard of ONE: Century Part 1.

Ikeda, a former Pancrase Flyweight Champion and ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix quarter-finalist, is coming off a decision loss to Adiwang’s teammate and tournament finalist Danny Kingad.

Ikeda will definitely be a tough test for Adiwang, but one that he will have to go through to prove that he belongs in the big leagues with his fellow Team Lakay stars.
