Eduard "Landslide" Folayang does not regret many things in his storied mixed martial arts career – but this is one of the rare cases where he does.

The 35-year-old was tapped to face Saygid "Dagi" Guseyn Arslanaliev at ONE: CENTURY PART I in the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix after Eddie "The Underground King" Alvarez withdrew from the tournament due to injury.

Folayang was quick to take the challenge, but he had to quickly give up the opportunity after he encountered visa problems.

“Of course, there’s a huge feeling of missing out because that’s a very big opportunity. You know, we don’t say to no to challenges,” Folayang said.

“It stings but we’re moving on. We’re looking ahead and we hope to join the Manila card on November 8.”

Because “Landslide” was unavailable, ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee stepped in to face the Turkish powerhouse in the Grand Prix.

Folayang had been looking forward to testing himself against “Dagi” for such a longtime that he was willing to face him on short notice.

“I’m a professional. If there’s an offer, as much as possible we say yes,” Folayang said.

“Right now I’m in shape. I’ve been helping Honorio and I’ve been sparring with him. I’m in good condition and I never let myself slip.”

The former ONE Lightweight World Champion now hopes for a chance to redeem himself when ONE Championship returns to Manila on 8 November for ONE: MASTERS OF FATE.

“I’m in great shape. I’ve never stopped working on myself,” Folayang stated. “Now I’m looking forward to the next card.
