TOKYO, JAPAN - Fil-American ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon "The Truth" Vera suffered the first loss of his ONE Championship career, falling to Myanmar's "The Burmese Python" Aung La N Sang in the main event of ONE: Century Part 2, Sunday evening at the Ryogoku Kokugikan here.

Vera dropped down to light heavyweight to try and take the ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship from reigning titleholder Aung La, but ended up getting TKO'd in the second round, his first loss in six years.

While it must be a heartbreaking end to what was about half a year's worth of work for "The Truth", Vera is taking things in stride and he posted a reaction video of sorts on social media not long after his loss.

"Sometimes, things don’t go as planned. Sometimes, no matter how hard you’re chasing, no matter how perfect things are, they still don’t turn out perfect," Vera said. In the video, it appeared as if hhe was being wheeled out of the venue, likely feeling the effects of the brutal back-and-forth he and Aung La had in the short, but action-packed bout.

Vera was very candid in what he was feeling, but went on to congratulate his opponent.

"Am I happy? No.  Am I mad? Yeah, but, Mr. Aung La N Sang, congratulations again, brother. You deserve it, you earned it. Man, you’re a tough b***ard."

The show of true sportsmanship comes as no surprise, given that Vera and Aung La had both been nothing but respectful to each other in the leadup to the champion-versus-champion superfight.

The two even went as far as to promise that they would remain friends after the bout

The silver lining for Vera is that while he was unable to realize his dream of becoming a two-division world champion, he remains the king of ONE's heavyweight division, and says that he plans on defending that title when he can.

"Still the heavyweight world champion, still defending that, ASAP!"

Vera ends the video on a positive note, urging everyone to continue chasing their dreams no matter the setbacks that they encounter along the way.

"Like I said, sometimes, it doesn’t turn out the way you want, but that doesn’t mean that you stop chasing your dreams. Go get yours, go get some."
