ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua Pacio and challenger Rene Catalan faced off at the official ONE: MASTERS OF FATE Open Workouts, Tuesday.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Some of the Philippines' best homegrown mixed martial arts talents showcased their skills during the official ONE: MASTERS OF FATE Open Workouts, Tuesday afternoon at the Elorde Sports Center here.

Five Filipino fighters will be competing on Friday's ONE: MASTERS OF FATE card at the Mall of Asia Arena, including main eventers ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua "The Passion" Pacio and title challenger Rene "D' Challenger" Catalan. Also on the card will be former champions Eduard "Landslide" Folayang and Geje "Gravity" Eustaquio, as well as Robin "The Ilonggo" Catalan, all of whom will be facing foreign opponents on fight night.

Pacio, the reigning king of the strawweight division and one of Team Lakay's brightest young stars, will look to successfully defend his title for the first time after winning it back against Japanese veteran Yosuke Saruta in Manila back in April.

Standing opposite Pacio will be a former SEA Games and Asian Games gold medalist and Wushu master in Catalan, who is riding an impressive six-fight winning streak and will be challenging for a title for the first time.

In the co-main event, Folayang, a former two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion begins his comeback trail when he faces Mongolian up-and-comer Amarsanaa "Spear" Tsogookhu.

Folayang is coming off back-to-back defeats to a pair of top-level talent in Shinya Aoki and Eddie Alvarez. The Team Lakay star however, is avoiding to fall into a three-fight skid for the first time in his career, and hopes to get back on track at home.

Tsogookhu on the other hand, is coming off an impressive debut against lightweight veteran Shannon Wiratchai and is hoping to record another big win over an even bigger name.

In a featured flyweight contest, Eustaquio, the former ONE Flyweight World Champion, looks to avenge a loss to Finland's Toni "Dynamite" Tauru. The pair met in a bantamweight contest back in 2016, with Tauru defeating Eustaquio via submission. Eustaquio has since dropped back down to flyweight and even had himself a title run. Tauru, meanwhile, has yet to earn another win since defeating Eustaquio and has also dropped down to flyweight. Both men are coming off losses and are hungry to get back into the win column.

In a strawweight preliminary bout, Robin Catalan hopes to set the tone for his older brother as he faces Cuban olympian wrestler Gustavo "El Gladiador" Balart. Both are looking to bounce back from recent defeats.
