MANILA, PHILIPPINES - Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje "Gravity" Eustaquio stayed true to his 'Rematch King' title as he defeated Finland's Toni "Dynamite" Tauru by third-round knockout at ONE: Masters of Fate, Friday evening at the Mall of Asia Arena here.
A rematch of their 2016 bout that saw Tauru submit Eustaquio in the first round, the opening round of the rematch appeared to be headed in the same direction after the Pinoy was taken down early in the round.
The taller, longer Tauru was able to keep Eustaquio down and continuously threaten with a Rear Naked Choke, but the Pinoy former champion did well in defending this time around.
Late in the opening round, Eustaquio was able to pop back up and end the first round standing.
Eustaquio picked up the pace in terms of striking in the second round as he picked Tauru apart with punches and kicks, keeping the Finnish fighter at bay.
In the final round, Eustaquio - doing his best impression of his Team Lakay teammate Kevin Belingon - unleashed a spinning back kick that connected straight to the midsection, immediately folding Tauru for the KO victory.
Eustaquio bounces back from his most recent loss and improves to 13-8 in his MMA career.
