Filipina atomweight Rocel "The Ilongga" Catalan is confident that her team has devised the perfect game plan to maximize her strengths in what will be her first competition in sixteen months.

The wushu specialist from Catalan Fighting System dukes it out with Ji Yeon “Honey Bee” Seo at Rich Franklin's ONE Warrior Series 9 on Wednesday, 4 December in Singapore.

"I know Ji Yeon Seo is a great athlete, that’s why I focused on both my stand up game and ground game, knowing that my opponent is very well rounded. My team created a perfect game plan for this bout," Catalan said.

"We respect her skills and we are aware that she is a tough opponent, but I am ready for the challenge. I will display everything we worked on inside the gym, and I’ll make sure my hand will be raised after the match."

Catalan is well aware of the prize that awaits an impeccable performance in ONE Championship’s developmental arm.

A six-figure contract to the main roster of ONE Championship will be given to the most impressive athlete of the night, and that is why Catalan is out to make the most out of the rare opportunity given to her.

"I’m very excited! This is my first time competing in ONE Warrior Series. It’s everyone’s dream to fight in the biggest promotion on the planet and I don’t have any plans of wasting this golden opportunity," Catalan said.

"I’ve been training non-stop since the moment they told me I will be competing in ONE Warrior Series. I focused on developing my tools especially my cardio given that this will be my first match in almost sixteen months."

Eager to prove her talent on the global stage, "The Ilongga" is confident that her striking will still be the key to getting that victory on Wednesday.

"Although I have trained all areas of MMA, my background is rather striking focused, having a strong background in wushu and other striking, and that’s why I see this as my strength in this fight against Seo."
