Rosario’s wife, Almira, is expected to give birth to their child the second week of January, the same week he faces Yohan “The Iceman” Mulia Legowo of Indonesia at ONE: A NEW TOMORROW at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, 10 January.
Despite not being able to be at his wife’s side to welcome their new baby, Rosauro is more eager to bring home the win and make it a double celebration when he returns to the Philippines.
“When ONE called me for this fight, I thought I won’t be able to be my wife’s side when she gives birth, but of course, that’s a part of being a fighter and each match for us is a blessing and an opportunity,” Rosauro said.
“I am working double time now to be ready for that match. I want to start on a winning note for me, and of course, for my newborn.”
“Akiyama” cannot contain the happiness he is feeling, especially that a new member of the family is set to enter their lives in less than two weeks’ time. For the Yaw-Yan Ardigma Cebu representative, there is no better way to start his new year.
That is why a win in Bangkok is a must for him.
“We’re all excited for the baby. After my match, I’ll definitely fly back to the Philippines to be with my family. But for now, I have a responsibility as an athlete and that’s where my attention will be,” Rosauro said.
“My family is getting bigger and bigger. All my sacrifices are for them and that’s why I need to double my effort to open more opportunities for myself in the future.”
