ONE Championship's ONE Hero Series is heading to the Philippines!
ONE Championship and Globe Telecom ignited the Philippines martial arts world with their recent announcement of ONE Hero Series Philippines Presented by Globe.
On 30 January, the two enterprises announced their venture at ONE:IGNITE at the Grand Ballroom of the City Of Dreams in Manila, Philippines, where professionals from sports, branding, and business sectors gathered to talk about the direction of sports in the region.
ONE Championship’s Chief Commercial Officer Hari Vijayarajan presented the ambitious project planned by The Home Of Martial Arts and the Philippines telecommunications giant. Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu also shared how their initial partnership turned into this big project.
“We’ve been in a partnership with ONE Championship for almost three years now, and we think that what ONE Championship stands for in terms of values, heroes, and stories ties in well with what we strive for, too,” Cu said.
“We see this as an opportunity for us to bring mixed martial arts in a big way to the Philippines, and it enables us to elevate more Filipino athletes on the world stage.”
In ONE Hero Series Philippines Presented by Globe, six teams consisting of four members each from different areas of the Philippines will compete head-to-head for the chance to win a Team Cup.
The finale will take place in December, where one winner will also get a US$100,000 contract on the ONE Championship main roster.
The show will start airing this August.
“This is also why the creation of ONE Hero Series Philippines truly excites us. [Now, we are] able to bring an entertaining mix of reality show and martial arts as part of our content offering to our audiences,” Cu said.
In the meantime, ONE Championship returns to The Lion City for ONE: KING OF THE JUNGLE on 28 February at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
