For the 2018 Commissioner's Cup, TNT is not relying on that proverbial switch and instead the KaTropa are doing things the hard way, piling up wins as early as possible so they can focus on the things that matter more come playoff time.
For the longest time, TNT was always able to flip the switch when needed to, especially when things start to get rough over the course of the long PBA season.
However, in the 2018 Philippine Cup, the switch was lost and the KaTropa barely made it to the playoffs.
Once they got there, they got booted out after just one game.
So for the 2018 Commissioner's Cup, TNT is not relying on that switch and instead the KaTropa are doing things the hard way, piling up wins as early as possible so they can focus on the things that matter more come playoff time.
After taking down Brgy. Ginebra, TNT is now 3-0 in the mid-season joust.
"Siguro last conference parang relaxed kami kasi yung mga past conference namin nun, parang kaya namin i-turn on na lang ng bigla, pero nung last conference di namin nagawa yun," Castro said.
"Lesson samin yun. Lesson din dito sa PBA na every game counts, kasi one round lang di ba. Pinaka-main goal namin is manalo ng manalo para pagdating ng playoffs di kami kinakabahan sa ma-out ulit," he added.
The Blur certainly made sure his KaTropa would end up winning, dropping 27 points against the Gin Kings.
Castro was effective all game long and his final two triples in the fourth period helped TNT hold off Ginebra.
"Maganda yung execution namin and yung defense namin vs. LA [Tenorio] tsaka kay Scottie [Thompson] maganda," Castro said.
"Kasi yung last game nila, parang sila pinaka-main [option] so siguro maganda lang din yung defense namin," he added.
