"But to be in a hole like 0-3, emergency situation na to kumbaga. If we don't pick up in the next few games, I guess we will be looking forward to the next conference." --- Yeng Guiao.
An 0-2 start for NLEX was never a cause for panic.
However, now down 0-3 after a 16-point loss to Meralco? The Road Warriors have smashed that panic button before they even left the Araneta Coliseum.
Following a breakout performance in the All-Filipino where they made it to Game 6 of the semifinals, the Road Warriors have stumbled out of the gate in the Commissioner's Cup.
NLEX has recovered from a poor stretch before, the Road Warriors overcame a four-game slide in the middle of the Philippine Cup.
But while the team's slump in the mid-season joust happened earlier, they might have less time to right the ship.
A 2-4 record and a 0-3 start are two different things.
"We've been struggling so far, but it's very early," head coach Yeng Guiao said.
"But to be in a hole like 0-3, emergency situation na to kumbaga. If we don't pick up in the next few games, I guess we will be looking forward to the next conference. It's disappointing because we played so well in the last conference," he added.
Import Arnett Moultie says NLEX just needs to pick up that first win.
But things are tense on the side of the Road Warriors. Their make-or-break situation came too early.
"It's definitely an emergency, panic mode," he said.
"But like I sad, we're just trying to get our first win and take it from there," Moultrie added.
