PBA: Dyip back to their winning ways after stopping ROS
Columbian is a perfect 2-0 against ROS so far this season and the Dyip have improved to 3-2 in the mid-season joust.

Columbian is back to its winning ways.

The Dyip frustrated Rain or Shine once again, taking a 104-96 win in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Wednesday at the MOA Arena.

Columbian is a perfect 2-0 against ROS so far this season and the Dyip have improved to 3-2 in the mid-season joust.

"That's a way to bounce back from a really bad loss to Alaska," head coach Ricky Dandan said as his Dyip are coming off a 31-point beating at the hands of the Aces in their last outing.

"We talked about that at length when preparing vs. ROS but I told them they didn't show up. We have no choice but to learn from that," he added.

That Alaska loss didn't seem to bother Columbian that much as the Dyip were game from the start.

With import John Fields anchoring the offense, Columbian took an 11-point lead late in the first half, 58-47, before Rain or Shine recovered to enter the break only down by five.

The momentum, carried over into the third quarter as the Elasto Painters took their largest lead of the night, 67-61. However, the Dyip would not be fazed as Fields continued to shoulder most of the offensive load, dropping 11 points in the period as Columbian maintained a slight advantage going to the fourth.

Rashawn McCarthy then took over for Columbian, hitting timely three-point shots as the Dyip would hold off ROS for the win.

Fields finished with 34 points and 11 rebounds for Columbian while McCarthy added 23. Jerramy King, playing against his former team, was good for 13 points.

The loss dropped the Elasto Painters to 3-1 in this conference.

Reggie Johnson scored a team-high 30 points on top of 17 rebounds while Daquioag added 17. Raymond Almazan posted a 16-point, 14-rebound double-double in the loss.
