BINAN, LAGUNA --- If 0-3 was an emergency situation for NLEX, one that required panic from the team, just imagine what could've happened with a 0-4 start.
Fortunately, we will never know as the Road Warriors finally won in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup, a close 120-115 overtime decision against Phoenix at the Alonte Sports Arena here.
0-3 meant panic for NLEX, at least for now, a 1-3 record means they can finally have a sigh of relief. it gives them time to save their conference.
"It felt good," said import Arnett Moultrie, who finished with 37 points, 17 rebounds, and eight assists against the Fuel Masters.
"We're basically fighting for our basketball lives, any chance to play for the playoffs, so this game was life or death so I just tried to come out and be aggressive," he added.
Settling in with NLEX, Moultrie is starting to show just why he was the Road Warriors' original choice for import anyway.
Moultrie dished out eight of the team's 37 total assists and was a beast on both ends of the floor.
"I have an all-around game. I'm not a selfish player," he said.
"I'm not here to shoot every basketball, I know how to play basketball the right way and I think I proved that tonight so right now it's all about our chemistry and playing hard for the whole 48 minutes," Moultrie added.
Now that they picked up their first win, the Road Warriors feel like they're finally on the road to better things.
"We feel confident. Like coach said, we take it one game at a time and Wednesday we got GlobalPort and we're just trying to win before the [All-Star] break," Moultrie said.
