"Vic's a beast. I know that Calvin Abueva's name but Vic is a beast, the Muscle Man. He takes advantage of those big guns he has." --- Alaska import Antonio Campbell on Vic Manuel.
ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal --- Don't look now but the Muscle Man is on a tear.
Vic Manuel scored a career-high 29 points Sunday at the Ynares Center here, leading the Alaska Aces to a convincing 110-100 win over the previously-undefeated TNT KaTropa.
It was the third straight win for Alaska and for Manuel, the second time in three games that he's set a PBA career-high in points.
He scored 27 against Blackwater two games ago and had 26 vs. Columbian in his last outing. Now, 29 points is his new personal best.
"Everytime sinasabi ko na option ako ni coach. Pag locals din bumabantay, nanlalaki ang mata ko," Manuel said.
"Threat din talaga ako sa scoring eh, ginagawa ko lang din kung ano yung dapat kong gawin. Kapag pinasahan ako ng teammates ko, wide open na eh, ilalagay mo na lang din sa ring," he added.
Manuel's mid-season outburst is hardly any surprise for his teammates.
For one, import Antonio Campbell knows that Manuel can pretty much dominate his opposition considering he's getting scored on in practice as well.
"Vic's a beast," Campbell said.
"I know that Calvin Abueva's name but Vic is a beast, the Muscle Man. He takes advantage of those big guns he has. I told him if he can score on me in practice, he can score on everybody. He took that to heart and he's doing his thing," he added.
