Makikita niyo naman lineup namin, malalaki kami, may talent, so masasabi ko lang kaya namin makipag-compete every game and with any team in this league," --- Raymond Almazan.
Since winning the 2016 Commissioner's Cup, Rain or Shine has never been the same.
It seems like the Elasto Painters lost that "it factor" and they've never it past the quarterfinals after that title conquest two years ago.
But in the 2018 Commissioner's Cup, ROS is off to an encouraging start.
Sure, the Elasto Painters' perfect run was ruined by Columbian but ROS simply turned around and bounced back by taking down defending champion San Miguel Beer.
The statement win was a big boost for Rain or Shine's confidence moving forward as the team looks to regain true contender status.
"Sobrang laking bagay na manalo sa powerhouse na tulad ng San Miguel," Raymond Almazan said.
"It was a big break for us. Mahirap yung panalo tapos talo, kailangan i-maintain [winning run]," he added.
While San Miguel is undoubtedly a powerhouse, Almazan played like a powerhouse himself Sunday agains the Beermen.
The towering center finished with 25 points, eight in overtime, on top of 14 rebounds.
That kind of performance certainly proved that ROS is strong too. After all, this particular group of Elasto Painters still have key pieces from their most recent title run.
"Lagi naman sinasabi ni coach samin na malakas lineup namin," Almazan said.
"Ang tanong lang how to use it and paano kami makipag-compete. Makikita niyo naman lineup namin, malalaki kami, may talent, so masasabi ko lang kaya namin makipag-compete every game and with any team in this league," he added.
