PBA: Count Ratliffe out as next Magnolia import
While Ratliffe has had meaningful stints with the Purefoods franchise in the past, the latest one being last season's Commissioner's Cup, head coach Chito Victolero assured that the double-double machine will not return for a third time in the PBA this year.

Ricardo Ratliffe will not replace Vernon Macklin as Magnolia's import in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

While Ratliffe has had meaningful stints with the Purefoods franchise in the past, the latest one being last season's Commissioner's Cup, head coach Chito Victolero assured everyone that the double-double machine will not return for a third time in the PBA this year.

Ratliffe is currently serving as South Korea's naturalized center in international competitions and according to Victolero, his contract in South Korea apparently prohibits him from playing overseas.

That means no more PBA for Ratliffe, at least for now.

"Si Ricardo, siya naman talaga import namin," Victolero said.

"But yung nasa clause niya sa contract niya with the national team ng Korea, hindi siya pwedeng maglaro outside Korea. So wala na sa listahan namin si Ricardo," he added.

Instead, the Hotshots are going a different route for an import this conference.

While the team already has a shortlist, no one has been confirmed to replace Macklin though the plan is to have a new import by this week.

"Mahirap, pero wala kaming choice eh," Victolero said.

"So kailangan lang namin siguro na makahanap ng import na magco-compliment dun sa tinatakbo ng locals namin. So madaming pinagpipilian but we'll try to find the right people para sa team namin. Again, walang assurance na he'll be like Ricardo, he'll be like Macklin. Hopefully swertehin kami na makakuha kami na magco-complement sa mga local," he added.
