PBA: Magnolia knew its time with Macklin was only borrowed
According to head coach Chito Victolero, Magnolia knew that Macklin will leave beforehand but Vernon playing four games for the Hotshots is to make sure that the team will have ample time to find a replacement import.

Vernon Macklin just played his penultimate game for Magnolia in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Wednesday and he's set to leave the Hotshots after Friday.

Macklin will play in China's NBL on a guranteed deal.

According to head coach Chito Victolero, Magnolia knew that Macklin will leave beforehand but Vernon playing four games for the Hotshots is to make sure that the team will have ample time to find a replacement import.

It also helps that the Hotshots are now 2-1 under Macklin and will have a chance to go for three straight wins when they face Meralco on Friday.

"From the start naman alam naman namin na aalis siya for the NBL," Victolero said.

"May agreement na he'll play for four games, at least we have time to find another import, yung replacement niya," he added.

Victolero revealed that Magnolia already has a list though one one has confirmed yet.

Fortunately, the Hotshots have some time to work out a deal with a new reinforcement.

"Right now, wala pang nagco-confirm eh. Hopefully ma-close namin this week. Ang target namin is for him to arrive Sunday, latest sana is Monday," Victolero said.

"Ang maganda lang, yung schedule namin after Friday, we have a two-week break. Siguro naman makakahanap na kami ng import for our game on June 2," he added.
