"Today I felt a whole lot better, I was probably 90 percent," --- Malcolm White. The Globalport import has been dealing with back spasms since last week.
Globalport import Malcolm White has been dealing with back spasms for almost a week now and yet the Batang Pier could have easily gone 2-0 despite their reinforcement being limited.
Instead, Global is 1-1 since Saturday with the only loss being a five-point decision to Magnolia last May 12 in Angeles City.
White hurt his back the day before.
"The bus ride was three hours I fell asleep and I was in a weird position," White recalled Wednesday when asked about his injury.
"We got to practice the night before the game and I pulled something in my back. I was not myself in that game [vs. Magnolia]," he added.
After scoring only 17 points against the Hotshots, White vowed to bounce back for the Batang Pier.
Against NLEX Wednesday, he came through, finishing with 20 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks.
More importantly, Globalport got the win this time, a dominant 116-94 decision over the Road Warriors.
"I told myself I had to bounce back and try to recover for this game [vs. NLEX]," he said.
"[I wanted to] give my good performance for this game," he added.
White mentioned that his back is still a problem but he's working his way towards peak health again.
"It's still a little tight but it's a whole lot better than it was the first time I've done it and I had to go right into the next game the next day with a pulled back. That was tough, really tough," White said.
"But today I felt a whole lot better, I was probably 90 percent," he added.
