PBA: Macklin and Magnolia have the perfect farewell
Macklin and Magnolia got the farewell they deserved. It's like destiny wanted it to happen.

Despite only playing with the team for four games, Vernon Macklin has grown to love Magnolia.

And Magnolia has grown to love Vernon Macklin.

That's why Friday's game against Meralco, which ended with Macklin making the two game-winning free throws with three seconds to go, is all the more unique and special.

Macklin and Magnolia got the farewell they deserved. It's like destiny wanted it to happen.

"It feels great," Macklin said after the win.

"It feels great winning any game but yoyu know, for this to be my last game with these guys in this conference, to actually leave on a good note and gert a win, it feels great," he added.

While Macklin had to leave following a deal with China's NBL, he says his time with Magnolia has been special.

Which makes it a big deal that he actually got to leave the Hotshots with three straight wins.

"I built a great relationship with all the guys and the coaching staff and also the management," he said.

"We played four games together, we had more practice together so it's very, very tough and emotional. But you know they understand as well as I understand that I have a situation that I have to take care of me and my family," Macklin added.

Vernon's second PBA stint ended earlier than expected but he's always to come back for a third time.

"Like I said, this place always has a special place in my heart," he said.

"Five years ago, I started with Ginebra and even here the fans are great, the teammates are awesome, the coaching staff is very [awesome]. Everybody's show you love out here so I'm always open to come out here and get back in the PBA," Macklin added.
