No import, no problem for TNT.
Playing All-Filipino after releasing Jeremy Tyler, the KaTropa still managed to score a 120-101 victory over the free-falling Blackwater Elite in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup Friday at the Big Dome.
TNT's high-powered offense slowly overwhelmed the Elite and the KaTropa eventually opened up a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Seven players scored in double figures for TNT as the KaTropa improved to 4-1 in the standings. Blackwater dropped to 0-6.
"It’s nice that the locals were really up for the challenge," head coach Nash Racela said.
"Boss Ricky Vargas gave us a really good motivation before the game. Sabi niya, even if they have a 6’10 import, and with us, we’re without a 6’10 import, all of you are imports. At least today, everybody was ready to contribute. It really helped us today," he added.
TNT pulled away in the second half as the team's balanced offense shined.
Up by only two in the third period, the KaTropa dropped a 12-0 run for a 73-59 lead and never looked back.
Ryan Reyes led all scorers with 18 points while Troy Rosario fired 17. RR Pogoy was good for 15 points and Jayson Castro and Anthony Semerad scored 14 each.
For the Elite, JP Erram scored 16 but the loss put Blackwater on the brink of elimination.
