Maverick Ahanmisi has no idea why he got ejected Sunday against Globalport in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
In the fourth period of the Rain or Shine-Globalport tiff, a loose ball play nearly ignited a free-for-all and it caused Ahanmisi and Batang Pier forward Kelly Nabong to be thrown out.
In the scramble for possession, Ahanmisi ended up pushing Sean Anthony off of Beau Belga. Ahanmisi hit Anthony in the neck.
Nabong then came from behind and shoved Ahanmisi to the floor and all hell almost broke loose before cooler heads prevailed.
"I saw Beau call a timeout and then Sean Anthony jumped on top of Beau so I did the same thing -- jumped on top of Sean and tried to get him off Beau," Ahanmisi said.
"And then Kelly's not even in the play and I just got shoved in the back. Who's not gonna get mad at that situation?" he added.
Despite getting the ejection, plus a fine is almost on its way at this point, Ahanmisi maintains innocence.
Maverick says he should have never been ejected.
"Very surprised. I mean you can give me a technical for second motion, but if you're giving me a thrown out for fighting, and I had nothing to do with the situation," he said.
"You know, Kelly pushed me in the back. I had no problem with him until that moment. I don't know why they threw me out. I don't have a problem with him personally, I just thought it was an out of play move [to] shove me in the back like that," Ahanmisi added.
