"Going to the hospital would not give me a chance to get back at him [White] or them [Batang Pier], with the way they played. I think the best way was just to win the game." --- Chris Tiu.
Sunday in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup, Chris Tiu got a pretty nasty elbow to the face from Globalport import Malcolm White.
Tiu was pretty shaken up and he admitted he blacked out a little bit.
He also spit out a good amount of blood.
Following the hit, a report from the TV broadcast mentioned that doctors recommended Tiu to go straight to the hospital and get treatment.
The Rain or Shine guard had none of that and he later returned. Tiu then hit a booming three in the final minute to help seal the Elasto Painters' win over the Batang Pier.
That was his revenge.
"Going to the hospital would not give me a chance to get back at him [White] or them [Batang Pier], with the way they played," Tiu said.
"I think the best way was just to win the game. I'm glad we pulled through. Just be focused and the objective is to win the game. That's the best revenge we could give them." he added.
Aside from hitting the dagger three, Tiu also confronted White after he got up following the hit.
It was uncharacteristic of the normally cool Tiu to go after an opponent that way but Tiu had some good reason.
"Syempre sino ba hindi magagalit sa ganyang action di ba?" he said.
"It was clearly intentional. It's been very rough the entire game, unfortunately I didn't see it at all and he got me clean," Tiu added.
