PBA: Justin Brownlee is ready to roll with Ginebra anew
Brownlee is coming off an ABL championship stint with San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas. He has already started practicing with the team a couple of days after his official reinstatement.

With Barangay Ginebra stumbling to a 1-3 start in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup, the Gin Kings have smashed that "break in case of emergency" glass and brought back old reliable Justin Brownlee as import.

Brownlee is coming off an ABL championship stint with San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas. He has already started practicing with the team a couple of days after his official reinstatement.

"It feels great just to be with the guys and seeing everyone's faces," Brownlee said after practice Wednesday.

"I didn't get to see coach Tim but hopefully tomorrow, they'll be back. Just ready to get going and ready to play," he added.

Coach Tim Cone is handling the Mindanao All-Stars in the 2018 All-Star Games in Davao del Sur.

Unlike any of his past stints with the Gin Kings, Brownlee is facing a different predicament with Ginebra this time around.

Record-wise, this is the worst Ginebra team Brownlee had to join in four conferences. It's practically similar to Alab Pilipinas when Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman came following a 1-3 start for the Jimmy Alapag-coached squad.

We all know how that ended.

"Similar situation [with Alab] as far as them [Gin Kings] being 1-3. But the past few games they had, I've seen some good things," Brownlee said.

"I'm just ready to come in and help the best way I can. Just play hard and playing my game, hopefully we can get some momentum and get some wins," he added.

Unlike any of his past stints with the Gin Kings, Brownlee is also coming in sharper than ever this time around.

The two-time PBA champion is ready to go.

"The main thing [with Alab] is it helped me stay in shape and stay competitive. Just staying ready. I had a lot of fun there, it was a great experience playing for coach Jimmy," Brownlee said.

"Playing in that league helped me with my conditioning and focus level. Plus winning the championship, I think it can get anybody a confidence boost," he added.
