PBA: Kumain nga ako eh -- Obstacle Challenge king Belga
Hindi (ako huminay noong tanghalian). Kumain nga ako eh para mas magdanda ang tira at pasa -- 2018 PBA All-Star Games Obstacle Challenge king Beau Belga

BATANGAS CITY –- Beau Belga ignored the usual practice of eating light hours before joining a speed and agility challenge.

The big man just loaded up during lunchtime before heading into the Batangas City Sports Coliseum here for the 2018 PBA All-Star Games Obstacle Challenge for big men Friday.

“Hindi (ako huminay noong tanghalian). Kumain nga ako eh para mas magdanda ang tira at pasa,” said the Rain or Shine forward.

Belga enjoyed his heavy lunch, giving him enough fuel to beat Blackwater’s JP Erram and Gabby Espinas of San Miguel in the final round of the first-ever obstacle challenge for big men.

“Napapanood ko kasi sa NBA na mayroon silang obstacle challenge for the bigs. Nagkataon na napagkalooban ang mga big man ngayon na maglaro ng obstacle, sabi ko sulitin na lang naming ang pagkakataon,” he said.

And boy, he did.

Belga showing great ball handling skills, speed and athleticism easily finished the course in 21.7 seconds, making Erram (29.6) and Espinas (30.5) eat his dust.

Heck, Belga even bested the time of teammate Maverick Ahanmisi last year when the guard clocked in at 25.8 seconds.

“Na-challenge lang ako kasi defending champion ang teammate ko eh,” said Belga. “Talagang sabi ko I’ll try. Tapos nu’ng una nakita ko sabi ko ‘’Wag lang ako maa-out sa first round.’ Yun lang ang ano lang talaga.”
