JP Erram let his frustrations get the better of him in Blackwater's seventh loss in as many games
Blackwater remains winless in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
And seemingly, the frustration is getting to Elite players.
Early in the third quarter of their matchup opposite NLEX on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum, Blackwater big man Poy Erram had a flareup with their coaching staff and had to be calmed down by teammate Allein Maliksi and agent Marvin Espiritu.
Courtside reporter Apple David then reported that he was “unhappy with his lack of touches.”

Post-game, Erram made it clear that wasn’t the case. “Hindi naman ako yung player na kailangan talaga ng touches e. I do the dirty work naman every game so ‘di ko kailangan humawak ng bola para maka-score,” he told reporters.
He then continued, “Ano lang frustration lang talaga and nothing about dun sa mga touches. Frustration lang kasi siyempre, gusto naming manalo.”
Following that flareup, 28-year-old Erram was benched for the rest of the third before being sent back in the final frame. “After nun, ‘di ko na rin pinatagal. Nag-apologize din ako kina coach dun mismo sa game kasi out of line na ginawa ko,” he said.
He then continued, “Nag-sorry rin ako sa teammates ko agad. Thankful din ako na sinuportahan nila ako and nakalaro pa rin ako nang maayos.”
Indeed, Erram wound up with 14-point, 11-rebound double-double and was the catalyst for the Elite’s final push that ultimately ended as an 89-93 loss.
Still, Blackwater star Erram said this loss, which dropped their record to 0-7, fell on him and him alone. “Ayoko lang matalo kasi nandun na e. Pero yun nga, kasalanan ko kung anong nangyari sa team kaya kami natalo,” he shared.
He then continued, “Sakin yun. For me, walang kasalanan teammates ko, kasalanan ko yun kasi pinabayaan ko mawala yung sarili ko and naging selfish ako.”
After what happened, Erram promised to do better – in all aspects of the game. As he put it, “For me, kailangan ko kontrolin talaga kasi kung nangyari at nangyari yun, mawawala tiwala ng teammates ko sakin.”
